S.W.A.T. and Tactical Personnel Now Have a Wireless Radio Audio Accessory Option

TORONTO, ON - (November 7, 2008) Comtrex Communications completes the development of a radio communication audio accessory that allows S.W.A.T. and tactical personnel to keep their hands on their weapon while activating the push-to-talk (PTT) without the traditionally cumbersome and failure prone wired remote finger and barrel PTTs.

The Comtrex solution was built based on input from York Region’s Emergency Response Unit (“ERU”) and features a remote wireless finger PTT.  The remote PTT operates on the 915MHz frequency and is paired to each individual accessory allowing for operation in close proximity to one another without interference. In addition there is a backup body PTT for redundancy in the event of loss or unlikely failure of the wireless finger PTT.

This new kit addresses many of the problems our customer’s have had with remote PTTs and their use with firearms. We expect this variation to the traditional three wire surveillance kit to be a popular alternative or upgrade” says Dylan Troyer, Sales Manager at Comtrex Communcations Ltd.

Comtrex has completed delivery of the first pre-production units for York Region, and has officially launched the accessory.
