The Department of National Defense Selects Comtrex’s Radio Accessories

TORONTO, ON - (October 29, 2008) – Comtrex is awarded a contract to supply the Department of National Defense with radio audio accessories for use with their existing and new MBITR radios.

The AN/PRC-148 Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio (MBITR) with more than 100,000 fieled units is the most widely fielded handheld multiband, tactical software-defined radio, in use with the US Military and NATO forces around the world. The radio is built by Thales Communications, a subsidiary of the Thales Group. The designation AN/PRC translates to Army/Navy Portable Radio used for two way Communications, according to Joint Electronics Type Designation System guidelines.

“We have had our eyes on the military market for sometime, and have been aggressively expanding our product line to address the military specific needs.  This contract for military specific accessories proves that we are on the right development track” said Patrick Armstrong, Director of Comtrex Communications.

Comtrex will complete its contractual obligations by December 31, 2008.
